The number of JA hams has declined from its peak but I think the decline
in JA contesters is sharper. When we ran GB50 from Windsor Castle, we
were amazed how very many JAs we worked. Many more than we work in a
contest from M6T. It seems to me that Japanese hams still like to work 'DX' but are not turned on by contesting. Perhaps contesting isn't heavily promoted in Japan.
