Hi Ted and everyone:
I think I get more calls from people who don't know the rules of the
contest, don't understand the scoring, and don't care than I do
from people who legitimately need the multiplier. Now, instead
of logging them and going on, I have to ask them whether they needed
the multiplier or not? Or is the rule really just something like
"one of your qso's with your own country/zone counts 0 points but
all of the others count 1?" I just work them, log them in case
they need the multiplier, and move on.
What about the zone multipliers? If I've worked a VE in that zone,
I get 1 point but if the US guy is the first one in that zone I
get zero?
I don't think it even matters much if I bust the callsign. I
believe I lose two or three additional zero point QSO's in that
case! :-)
I lean towards not changing the scoring for CQWW. And, I worked
and logged my fair share of 0 point QSO's on 40 last weekend. I
don't think we want to do anything that encourages more same
country QSO's.
