I've used a 2m 5/8 mobile whip.  Both mobile and as a base station. 
(stuck to a 5' steel bar sitting in the rain gutter)  Worked nearly two
dozen EU, as well as Tree and J. (VY1JA) running 10 watts at the end of
the last cycle.

The Force 12 C4 tribander works pretty well too.
