Dunno about what John would do, but if it were my contest, I'd thank
David for the find, then I'd send personal email to the new guy
explaining exactly what the problem was, and why he was not copacetic.
Then I would assume that the new guy would get back to me, with his
apologies, explanation or whatever and by that time I'd find out his
lack of experience and youth. at that point I'd ratchet down any
criticism I'd have, let him know that stuff happens, and that he was
welcome and encouraged to participate in the future, and that if he
had questions for the next year, I'm as close as my email.
