Not that I'm trying to defend the DARC's action, just curious...
Are the WAEDC participants allowed to work stations outside of IARU R1
"split" on 40?
And have they dropped the rule insisting that the exact QRG fed from the rig
to the computer must also be logged?

Subject: [CQ-Contest] WAEDC CW: only for Extra class USA
DARC has adapted the new IARU R1 bandplan in the rules of the WAEDC
contest which will be in the 2nd weekend of August.
On 40m, one of the major dx bands during this part of the solar cycle,
it is not allowed anymore to make qso's above 7025. The new IARU R1
bandplan defines 7000-7025 as contest preferred. The IARU R1 encourages
member societies to put this in the rules of their contests.
Result is that only USA Extra class licensees can work on 40m. Not
really a way to encourage the non-Extra class to take part in this
contest of which goals it is to work as many dx stations as possible.
