Just now I took a look at 3580 kHz with Fldigi in PSK31 mode and
counted 8 to 10 streams plus W1AW in a 2 kHz slice of spectrum. I have
found that a lot of the casual QSO ragchews that used to happen in the
phone band has moved to PSK31 and some other digi modes. Despite the
slowness of typing everything the QSOs are friendly and generally free
of LID like behavior.

People have many options for their free time (look, I'm typing an email
instead of operating the radio) and it has affected everything from HF
roundtables to repeaters.
