First of all I must applaud to John for this point of view!
And I can add:
Without QTCs the WAE would be another boring contest during often worse
summer condx for European stations. But it is the Worked All Europe
intentionally and it has this unique component many are waiting for -
other shates it.
WAE is LOT of fun from outside EU as You have good runs from the many
EUs (did it twice from 4K).
As a EU You find pretty low amount of serious DX stations taking part.
The QTCs are special for WAE, and with them the WAE brings fun to EU
stations too and a GREAT challance for the receiving side of QTCs (it's
SUCH a big different between 10-12 enters and logging them online at
fast speed).
Of course with current QRN and QSB situation (as almost always in
summer) it's hard to say in advance if You can make all 10 go through
except from the real loud signals ;)
And the fact of lot of QTCs transmitted especially on sunday changes the
tactic for everybody too ... if You want loose too much of points and fun.
I'd say:
Get the max of fun of it for both sides and have more fun with it everybody!
Thanks to all participants, all callers, all QTC-senders (also for 2,3,4
etc QTCs), all QSO-givers :)
