It's all about having fun, yes making a lot of Q's is fun, but, how many of you operated the old Novice Roundup?

Max 24 hours of time allotted to operate yet a 10 DAY operating window. I remember it very fondly as being fun.

There is no 2nd run. It doesn't happen. It is Sunday night and people are not participating.

This is not about creating or removing advantages for either coast. This is about making the contest more enjoyable for all over the period and increasing participation.

In CQ WW DX contests 15m might be wide open to Japan Sunday after noon but there is nobody to work as the majority of those people are at work.

Since the SS Sunday doldrums is again being talked about (!) just a thought: Why does SS have to start late Saturday afternoon and end late Sunday evening? The pool of casual entrants that would get on after 8 PM on a Sunday worknight/schoolnight has to be very small. Based on the check years being sent, many of you are retired and don't have to get up at 0600 on Monday morning to go to work. But I suspect the younger casual contesters with family and job don't have Sunday evenings available......

I was thinking about this myself the other day.

Sunset in November ranges from about 6:00 pm on the Saturday of CW Sweepstakes and then 5:00 pm on Sunday (change of clock) and then about 4:50 pm to 5:00 pm during the Phone event.

By having the event last until 0300z, you give the east coast a second chance at an evening run. If you were to end the contest at 0000z (backing the start time to 1800z) you would make the west coast advantage even larger - giving them even more daylight hours to run on the high bands.
