I think there are varieties on this issue, and I don't think there is a
definite style.  Below link, which I use at the moment, shows one of
the styles.

As a reference, the monitor in the above link is Gechic On-lap 1301, which
is already discontinued.  But there is a successor of this product, 1302.
This one is very compact, and no software driver is required.  USB is used
only for the power.  And the monitor arm is diverted from the tablet arm.
