Not sure if many people have seen the qualifying rules yet. Pretty much a
game changer for the next 2 years. It virtually kills the multi-op
participation of anyone interested in competing in WRTC 2018. It's pretty
clear that any multi score for the next 2 years cannot be used and expect to
participate. It will be interesting to see what choices are made by the
great contesters out there that frequent the multi-op scene as part of their
enjoyment of our sport.

Another change that is very interesting is the equivalency of All Band, All
Band Assisted, and Single Band. The way I read the rules you could operate
160M Low Power Assisted single band for all of the majors and assuming that
you won your region in that class - get the same points as Randy just did
winning SOAB HP Assisted. Plus competing assisted and non assisted. I
think this weekend pretty clearly proved that you likely won't go to WRTC in
2018 if you stay non-assisted.

I will also note that Low Power has been equivalented to High Power for
qualifying purposes which is great to see.

For those of you that have never played in the Russian DX and WAE contests
seriously, that is also about to change if you plan to get to Germany in
2018.

I commend the teams in Germany for stepping out with these rules and making
them their own - which is their privilege for sponsoring the event. It may
force some major consequences over the next 2 years.
