I believe I am in the minority on this but I always say a
few words on my outgoing QSL's.
One thing I always write on QSL is " thanks for the
QSO/QSL " for recieved cards. I believe some
people send out cards without ever checking whether they
ever sent out a card before
or even ever had a qso with the person. Thanks for the
Qso/Qsl I hope eliminates some
duplicates. There are a few stations that must of sent me
6 or 7 of their QSL's.
I probably get around 500 QSL's a year and yes it is a
chore but even after
51 years I know I'll continue.

that I have started using is to use cards that will take up to 20 QSOs on
the same card. My logging program allows me to see all of the QSOs that I
have had with a particular station and if I have QSLed to them yet. If I
have worked them on several occasions I add all of those Qs to the card.
This way I have confirmed ALL of the Qs that I have had with that station.
(Sometimes I get a card from a station for every #$%^& QSO even for the same
band and mode...mostly Jas). Not sure what the registry would gain me. It
would just add another layer of checking when I am trying to get the QSLing
done as quickly as possible. I would say that this process has reduced my
QSLing by 40-50% which is a good thing. I do notice that a lot of the guys
that ask for QSLs have already got confirmations with LOTW...so they just
want the paper.
I don't mind QSLing to guys with paper QSLs, I just wish that everyone would
be judicious in only asking for cards that they need/want and not for every
QSO! ...and I wish the ARRL would not treat this as a cash cow.

I have always attempted to answer all bureau cards as quickly as possible.
It isn't unusual for me to send out a thousand or more replies in a given
year. In fact, I am in the middle of answering a new batch that just came
in.
One thing I notice is that there seems to be a high number of DX ops that
have chosen to simply QSL 100%, many using a third party company to print
and forward the cards. If I receive a card that doesn't specifically state
"Please QSL", then I don't do any more than place it in another big box
which will eventually be disposed of by my XYL or son when I become an SK.
Sometimes I will even place them in file 13.
Any ideas on how a registry could be created, where you could indicate that
you do not want any qsl cards from anyone? The 100% QSLers could save some
money by filtering their logs against the list, and then only sending cards
for the remaining contacts.
I think I have enough JA QSL's to fill up a bathtub. I don't mind replying
to people who truly need a QSL from Colorado, but I'd love to find a way to
cut down on the time I spend handling QSL requests.
