VE3XIN and VE3AXC decided not to go two weeks before the event because of
personal reasons and because of a possible Red Cross deployment to Haiti
for hurricane relief. Yes, they were originally part of the team.
However, none of us had ever met them before or knew them. No one has ever
denied this or said that VE3XIN didn't do it. CQ contends that there was
communication between VE3XIN and the group there wasn't. VE3XIN pulled out
of the trip and essentially "stiffed" the group of a couple of hundred
dollars for his contribution to the general fund. He felt guilty and
thought he would do the team a favor and spot us on his own. I find it
hard to believe that actions taken by a third party with no communication
during the contest or arrangement before the contest to spot is grounds for
DQ. KR2Q et al have failed to tell us how we communicated the band changes
and frequency changes without any phone or internet from our island. SDR
recordings, if they are willing to listen to the entire contest will not
show any passing of information to VE3XIN. But that is too much for them
to do.
