Split operation is the way to go from Europe on 40m for US pileups in the
big contests by listening above 7200kHz.
It´s also helpful to listen above 3800 on 80m.

Split operation is fine for a DXpedition, but NEVER in a contest. It is 
incredibly selfish. I won't work anyone who is working split in a 
contest. Indeed, doing so should be grounds for DQ.
