Chris,

The AP can use either a public or private IP address at the Base Station.
The main Con is you can't manage the AP if it is a private IP across the
internet if you need too.  The CPE devices need to have a Public IP address
so they can get onto the internet.

You are correct about the NAT feature.  Public on the radio and private on
the ethernet side is how it is setup.
