The SNMP read string does work for some snmp get functions that I've tried,
but you cannot use the read password in the configurator, because the
analysis and configuration options require snmp sets, which can only be done
with the write string.

Subject: [Karlnet] SNMP Passwords
I just checked again and the Read & Read/Write SNMP passwords and it doesn't
seem to matter what you put in the Read password you always get a Invalid
Password error.
Is there anyway this can be put on the bug list for the programmers... :-)
Thanks,
Nate
