Ahh.. ok.. I didn't know if the back plate feature was standardized yet. That
makes it much more attractive for the under 3 mile scenario.

You can definitely change the radio in the embedded kn50 unit, you can
also change out the board as well, it has a blackplate that is easily
removed
IMO - the embedded antenna is the easiest "install" I have ever done,
its as easy as a "canopy" install.
If a larger antenna is needed for longer shots, then your back to your
"outdoor box" w/ external antenna setup
