We provide a public IP and up until today (when we got a KN-50) have always
gone directly into one machine or into a router.

What's the difference if the customer has one machine or 5 on the
connection? All their traffic is still bridged to all other customers.

Well, we are setup a bit differently from you, obviously. We give all
customers a real world ip, this can be terminated either on a single pc, or
on a router if they want to use more than one maching. This allows them to
do vpn's if they wish, etc. I don't think I would ever allow customers to
have multiple machines on without a router or nat, just a personal opinion.
