Why not purchase the same cards that Karlnet bundles with their KN-50? All you
really need is a card with Agere chipset, right?

We are from Argentina.. we have to deal principaly with our factor of money
change ( u$s 1.00 = $ 3.00). After that we have to choose between an outdoor
Solution or a bad and poor performance solution with any equipment in
802.11b.

Thanks Karlnet we have 200 wireless client PCI + PCMCIA Orinoco + license
SC4700 for u$s 200,00 with all included... just the client completely
installed.. is no easy for us that cost, but the performance is good and is
the maximum that we can pay for a wireless kit...

Tsunami PtMP..? Canopy PtMP..? All of that is so far ago for our economic
possibilities.. If we can install Karlnet at u$s 200,00 ( remember that
means $600,00 for us) , so YOU CAN pay a wireless CPE of that vendors that
have more features.

BUT.. SC4700 has discontinued, in a bit time we will not find any Orinoco
PCMCIA Cards.. and what will we do..? KN50..? is expensive for us yet.. U$S
250,00 FOB and then I have to add around 20% to import them and then the
instalation cost... it is expensive yet...

I want to go on with karlnet, but the Orinoco Silver is discontinued and the
KN50 is expensive...

I think that Karlnet should drop the price of the KN50.

Have someone any idea where to find more PCMCIA Orinoco silvers ? pls..
contact offlist..

Bye
Roberto

KN50 isn't the right thing for long distance at that firmware I see!!!!!
It's good for short (and with PoE), and Lcaps from Wim Bos (Netherland)
I place fore the others...

PS:
What about Karlnet?
I placed an order for KN50 two month ago and ...nothing!!!
....YDI?

Betreff: RE: [Karlnet] What are we all going to do for CPE's?

We just installed 13 TC base units! The hell we are going to drop them
altogether. Plus, we have been having a good experience with the
product for the most part.

For higher quality links we go right to Aperto PTMP. Also with good
success and good performance.

Then a customer can purchase Tsunami PTMP from us if they need more
bandwidth than that.
We have also used Motorolla 5.8GHz canopy, but I don't have much
experience with that.

I really think it's a good solution spectrum for small home office to
some of the largest MT businesses.

What I am really looking for is a product with reliability and a 5 mile
range, that cost's as much as an ADSL bridge. More for Resi. We have
DSL too, but with the quality of copper in 40% of the market, people are
often left desiring more bandwidth, and stuck with their performance
based on their distance from the DSLAM.

I think they (Karlnet) would do well to continue to sell the KN-50
board. Especially if it can support higher powered cards.
Or, hint hint, drop the price on the KN-100/105 boards to the price of a
KN-50 with software.
They have to go down in price sometime.. right?

Yeah right! I'm reminded of the DEC/Compaq merger... the CPQ/HP
merger...

Uh huh. Find a solution now, guys. For if you don't, you'll have some
pissed off "not-yet-installed" customers when they decide to no longer
make
whatever product or software it is you've been using.

I believe karlnet stated that the merger would not impact pricing or
products
