Here is the current forecast discussion on space weather and geophysical activity, issued 2018 Jan 06 1230 UTC.
Solar Activity
24 hr Summary: Solar activity remained at very low levels this period. Region 2693 (N19W59, Axx/alpha) was unproductive and continued to exhibit decay. No Earth-directed CMEs were observed in available coronagraph imagery.
Forecast: Solar activity is expected to continue at very low levels throughout the forecast period (06-08 Jan).
Energetic Particle
24 hr Summary: The greater than 2 MeV electron flux was at normal levels and the greater than 10 MeV proton flux remained at background values.
Forecast: The greater than 2 MeV electron flux is expected to continue at normal levels over the next three days (06-08 Jan) and the greater than 10 MeV proton flux is expected to persist at background levels throughout the forecast period.
Solar Wind
24 hr Summary: Solar wind speeds decreased from initial values near 360 km/s to end-of-period values around 300 km/s while magnetic field measurements varied nominally throughout the period. Elevated solar wind density this period seems associated with a variable phi angle/solar sector orientation.
Forecast: Solar wind parameters are expected to be slightly enhanced on days two and three (07-08 Jan) due to the influence of a positive polarity CH HSS.
Geospace
24 hr Summary: The geomagnetic field was quiet under a nominal solar wind regime.
Forecast: Quiet conditions are expected to prevail on day one (06 Jan). Quiet to unsettled conditions are expected on day two (07 Jan), with quiet to active levels expected on day three (08 Jan), due to the effects of a positive polarity CH HSS.
