Here is the current forecast discussion on space weather and geophysical activity, issued 2018 Dec 19 1230 UTC.

Solar Activity

24 hr Summary: Solar activity remained very low and the visible disk was spotless. No Earth-directed CMEs were observed in available coronagraph imagery.

Forecast: Very low solar activity is expected to continue 19-21 Dec due to a lack of spot groups or notable active regions.

Energetic Particle

24 hr Summary: The greater than 2 MeV electron flux was at normal to moderate levels and the greater than 10 MeV proton flux was at background values.

Forecast: The greater than 2 MeV electron flux is expected to continue at normal to moderate levels 19-21 Dec and the greater than 10 MeV proton flux is expected to remain at background.

Solar Wind

24 hr Summary: Solar wind parameters reflected weak, negative polarity CH HSS influence. Total field strength varied between 5 to 9 nT, the Bz component fluctuated between +/- 5 nT, while the phi angle remained predominantly negative. Solar wind speed began the period near 400 km/s before beginning a slow and unsteady rise to end the period near 490 km/s.

Forecast: The solar wind environment is expected to remain slightly enhanced on 19 Dec due to influences from a negative polarity CH HSS. Waning conditions are expected on 20 Dec as residual CH HSS influence diminishes. A return to more ambient-background like conditions is expected on 21 Dec.

Geospace

24 hr Summary: The geomagnetic field was mostly quiet with an isolated unsettled period.

Forecast: The geomagnetic field is expected to be at quiet to unsettled levels on 19 Dec due to weak influence from a negative polarity CH HSS. A return to mostly quiet conditions is expected for 20-21 Dec as the solar wind environment weakens to nominal, background levels.
