Surprised there have not been any comments about Jim Haynie's
appearance on Art Bell's syndicated "Coast to Coast" show the
other night.
Joe Walsh was also on with Jim and it seemed like a bit of an
odd-couple pairing but Jim spoke eloquently for the NINETY
MINUTE segment and it was clear that Art Bell was truly upset
about BPL.
I am not sure of the typical audience for this show as I usually
don't stay up that late. But I have listened to some shows in
recent weeks and when I heard that Jim was going to be on
I made a concerted effort to stay awake!
Since Art used the show as a platform for the interference
to ALL HF and low VHF services and since I am sure that
a lot of late-night truckers must listen I am waiting for the
march on Washington by the CBers in their semi rigs.
All levity aside I am sure that there is some segment of the
public that was made more aware of the BPL issues from
this show and Art Bell indicated he would do similar shows
in the future. And hats off to Jim Haynie for the excellent
job he did representing ARRL and the amateur radio population
in the US.
And Art is due some words of kindness for taking his show
and using it for a platform for issues about interference from
BPL. Probably a very low percentage of listeners have had
any interest in this up to this time. But maybe he added some
new opponents to this technology.
