"As Kurt says, do your duty, locate the interference as near as possible
then let the other agencies and authorities make all further
determinations."
I did jump the gun a bit with my last post, it went out before I could catch
it.
Reporting it to all the agencies I mentioned is assuming, of course, that
you know, beyond a reasonable doubt, what the source is. After all, if you
didn't, what and why would you report?
The safety issues are moot, however, in the examples given, the pot farm and
the RFI it generates has already been positively identified. A ham isn't
some two dozen government agencies with massive resources whose job it is to
handle such things anyway, why try to be a hero/vigilante? Because we are
ambassadors of our hobby?
I also don't keep in mind that a lot of people have trouble pinpointing RFI.
Had an interesting idea this evening of half a Yagi built on the trunk lid
of a sedan, or even the roof of a truck for pinpointing houses. Far less
obtrusive than a 5' beam out the window on a six foot piece of PCV rotating
toward at a house as one drives by.
What about a Yagi in the back seat pointing out a side window? How about a
helical?
Kurt
