Good news: I'm clean on the new modem and it's clean with me. I wrapped
about 20 turns of the DC power line around my toroid core (I think it's
type 43 because that's what I had on hand) and there is no problem on
any band. Nor do I hear anything form it. I haven't tried it without the
choke as I've decided to let sleeping dogs lie...
