I use small loops, for receive...  They work very well, and if you can
hear the source you can more than likely DF it.

If you are lazy, you can buy an Alex Loop, very portable, well thought
out, and in general a very nice tunable loop, that will cover 40 through
10 meters.

Build one and save a pile, or buy one and spend too much, either way you
will be happy with a loop for DFing.
