Hello guys, the cause is usually loose external hardware, not actually the
caps themselves. There's allot of ground connections up there. If loose,
instant noise sources. Second is the lighting arrestors. All that conductor
is a magnet for lightning.

The thing with two high voltage leads going to it are a series switch so
the cap action can be cutoff. Usually there is a time (timed control) box
mounted at ground level (in my area).

noise issue, but, the hardware was still defective in the way of either the

Myself, I think that the common denominator with other identified noise
sources, this being the surge suppressors, are the ultimate culprit. But,

I think I may have finally isolated a source (THE source?!!?!?) of my local
interference.....a capacitor bank about 4/10 mile away...pegs the meter on
the MFJ power line device, sounds like my noise in the
headphones.....calling the local utility tomorrow with the pole number, but
what could be causing it? hardware? bad insulator?
