Being placed in a "specific mode" more than likely means a nice square
wave, just narrower than at full power.
I had the fan motor replaced in my HVAC unit with a motor that did not
need "Inverter technology".
"Inverter Technology", will probably get you "RFI suppressing
Technology" in your hamshack...
Ask to see one in use, and bring a portable SW radio, and some
ferrites... I had a bit of noise on my setup, three or four ferrites
later teh problem was solved, but I opted to not avail myself of the
latest in "Inverter Technology". :)

ANY variable speed motor is likely to be a source of nasty RFI.
