Thanks everyone for the replies. I’m always amazed at how helpful the community 
is. 

It looks like all hope is not lost as some haven’t had issues with these 
models!  I still haven’t found a fixed speed version, but will keep looking and 
will also test this model myself with my portable radio.  I’ll report back on 
my final setup.
