You are on the right track, test, test, test... Then test more...
Bring some FT240-31 ferrites with you. Ask the vendor if you can try
them out first...
I was able to get the vendor to write in the contract for my heater
install, that no RFI would be generated! That surprised me. Most won't
do that.
Ask the vendor to contact the manufacture, and ask about an RFI
suppression kit, is one available, is it free, is there a cost to
install? If so, what are the specs for it...

Being placed in a "specific mode" more than likely means a nice square wave,
just narrower than at full power.
I had the fan motor replaced in my HVAC unit with a motor that did not need
"Inverter technology".
"Inverter Technology", will probably get you "RFI suppressing Technology" in
your hamshack...
Ask to see one in use, and bring a portable SW radio, and some ferrites... I had a bit
of noise on my setup, three or four ferrites later teh problem was solved, but I opted to
not avail myself of the latest in "Inverter Technology". :)
Thanks Don, yes I’m trying to find one that doesn’t involve this inverter
technology, but it seems all of these mini-splits have moved to this variable speed type
design. If anyone knows or has a suggestion please let me know!
Maybe I need to look at an old fashioned window unit, although I prefer
something more integrated.
I am definitely planning on snooping around with my portable radio! I’m
testing every single piece of equipment that goes in these days :)
David

ANY variable speed motor is likely to be a source of nasty RFI.
