Hi Ed and the group,
I also use an outboard audio filter between the rig and the PC. I use a
BARTG R5 audio filter, but sadly, it is no longer available.
When switched in, you can see an immediate change in the passband to the
soundcard. I built mine so that it has an off switch, which just passes the
audio straight through, plus a seperate speaker, so that I can hear the
filtered audio.
As I said, the R5 is no longer available, but I have used the JPS audio
filters, and these are excellent too. Check out
http://www.davisrf.com/ham1/dspfilt.htm for more info.
I know a few people that use these filters, and they are good.
Timewave are also well used, but possibly a little more expensive. See
http://www.timewave.com/
As for Valentines day, well, I guess I may be missing for a period of time
during that evening of WPX! I'll do as much as possible, but a few hours
with the boss can be worth several mults!
Very best 73 to all
