I guess I disagree, Dick. I guess if you re just trying to work a DX you've
found in the middle of the RTTY subband, maybe that outlook's OK. However,
what if you tell a DX to QSY to work him on another band. What are you
going to tell him - QSY to TS-570, USB, 14.080, no rig offset,///etc? If
you say 14080, that should indicate the MARK frequency, the so-called
standard. He will likely go where you tell him, and using a 500 Hz filter
or less, he won't even hear you. Sure, he MIGHT look around, but don't
count on it in a contest.
Also, I wouldn't operate near 21.100 with your amp on if you don't know what
frequency you're on, not to mention the band edges.
It just seems like bad operating to not know what frequency you're on.
Sorry if this seems picky to anyone. Not trying to fight, just like the
discussion on this subject!
