I have not looked at the capability of either rig but you might consider either using an attenuator or turning the RF gain back. I have an Orion and the AF amplifying capabilities are good enough that you can still hear weak signals with the RF gain at 70%. I know some people who leave the AF gain set at a fixed point and use the RF gain knob to vary "volume".
