I'm a complete newcomer to RTTY and computer logging (N1MM). My modest
effort in the ANARTS contest -- all 25 QSOs -- was very enjoyable,
considering my 25 watts to a 20 meter ground plane!
If the "heat of battle" (if the phrase applies to a rate of 2 QSO's per
hour!) I got confused between the manual transmit button on the 757, the
mouse, the function keys, and the shifting focus of the open windows on
the computer. I dorked up two QSO's trying to edit one, and re-entered
both manually.
Now, after I sent my Cabrillo file to patleeper@optus.com.au, I
discovered that the raw data is in my computer in a text file for each
of the two days -- I had turned on the "record to file" feature in
either N1MM or MMTTY. As I scrolled around, I found the two QSOs with
CX4AAJ and LT0H. I had reversed the time stamps and the time exchanges
with the two contacts. Thus I suppose they will lose credit for the QSO
and the multiplier. I don't think there was another ZP in the contest.
Here are my questions:
1. If I had discovered the error and retrieved the data from my text
file after the close of the contest but before submitting the Cabrillo
file, could I have edited the file post-contest? Is this considered by
the list to be ethical?
2. Is it ethical to correct the data and the Cabrillo file, send a
"ZP9EHv2.LOG" to vk2ctd, and ask him to dump the original file and use
the second? Is this really going to hack off the scorer? I read I2UIY's
suggestions for post-contest revision of the Cabrillo file where he
mentions how difficult it was when he received multiple Cabrillo files
from the same entrant.
3. Is the proper address for the ANARTS logs patleeper or vk2ctd?
Thanks for the help. I'll do better next time! 73 from Paraguay, Steve
Haines ZP9EH
