The main thing is to keep it short but have enough to let
non-contesters know you are in a contest. I use CQ WW, but CQ TEST is
ok too. CQ WW DX is too much. The ultimate short call would probably
be: WW W6WRT CQ, but that's getting so short someone is likely to tune
right by you. Please be sure to put a 'CQ' at the very end.
