I always run FSK so when I generate a spot for someone I'm sure the
frequency I'm putting out is correct. Unfortunately there are many RTTY
spots generated that have the wrong frequency . I suspect these are being
generated by folks running AFSK who forget to adjust the actual frequency to
compensate for their being on LSB or USB. It's discouraging to be calling
away in a contest and finally see someone spot me, but then give the wrong
frequency!

So my question is this. I know self spotting is a no-no, but if someone
else spots you and includes the wrong frequency would it be frowned upon to
generate a correction spot yourself? Perhaps the Remarks section of the
spot would contain something like, "Correct freq". Any thoughts?

Gary AL9A
