Some microHAM devices, specifically USB interface II and USB Interface
III which do not use internal microprocessors, function as USB-serial
and (in the case of USB Interface III) USB Audio Class devices under
LINUX and MacOS.

In addition, for well over five years some Apple developers wrote their
applications to directly address the microprocessor (controller) in the
microHAM "keyer" interfaces. As far as I know, at least one still does.
In any case the microHAM factory continues to work with third party
developers who wish to support the microHAM "Keyer" family in their
products but since Apple does not have a common "serial" interface
and microHAM do not have any programmers versed in *NIX or the Mac OS,
microHAM do not have the resources to build a MacOS platform for the
[relatively] limited market - particularly since the existing Windows
based platform (and applications) functions under Boot Camp or Windows
emulation.

And why does the manual include instructions for product installation on OS/X?

There is no software from MicroHAM to support their products on a Mac (any
version).

You can, however, adapt the (Objective-C) source code for "uH Router" to make
it fit your needs. Just go to the download page of this set of pages at my site:

http://www.w7ay.net/site/Applications/Router/index.html

The entire Xcode project should be in the download page. There is also a companion
"uH Utils" program on my web site for downloading new firmware into the
MicroHAM interfaces.
