No, seriously.

For two reasons, (1) PSK31 has far better intelligibility than an SSB signal in 
a 2.4 kHz equivalent noise bandwidth (we are talking about 1 watt vs 200 watt 
type of difference), and (2) 14071.5 has lots of "eyeballs" on it.

Hey, check Kai's December QST article for relative "punch" (as he puts it) of 
the different modes.  Granted, the chart there is for AWGN, but voice also 
suffers badly through real HF propagation.

BTW, Kai, did you use 250 Hz noise B/W for RTTY to compute noise, or did you 
use two OOK demodulators, each one with 45 Hz of equivalent noise bandwidth?  
There is more than 4 dB difference between the two demodulators.
