Hi Alex and the group,

I tried out the original version of GRITTY, and was fairly pleased with it
as a second option to MMTTY.
Listening to a small pile-up, I did note that nearby strong stations tend to
mess with the decoder in GRITTY, yet MMTTY copied everything nicely.
This was listening to Z21LS on 17m, with HG90IARU just about half a kc down.
I did note that I had to implement one of the filters in my IC7800 to copy
Z21LS decently, but then noted that the receive in GRITTY seemed to be all
noise, with no obvious times to click on.

I use LOW tones, as I can't hear the high tones as clearly. This may well be
a reason for this.

Today, I tried the new version of GRITTY, and I was listening to Z21LS on
20m, and I have to say that I didn't notice a great deal of difference. I
can lose the S-meter, although that isn't an issue with me.

As others have said, it would be very neat to be able to dump the RX screen
to a text file, as per MMTTY.
This is especially useful in a contest, and I use it for general work too. I
know it's a bit sad, but I like to clip snippets of text when I work a new
one, and then save them to another directory.
In a contest, it is very useful for reviewing what was sent/received if you
find you have entered a serial number in the 599 slot!

I also tried 1.2 while listening to the pile-up for Z21LS, and noted that it
seemed to have a great deal of difficulty in printing any text at all. Maybe
this is the post-processing you were referring to? All I saw were faint
letters/numbers appearing, and then disappearing as it tried again.
Given that the pile-up wasn't too big, my thought was that it was similar to
a contest situation, and I look forward to trying it out in a contest, just
to see what it actually prints.

In contests, I usually have 2Tone as a second decoder, and note that there
are times when 2Tone gives me clear print when MMTTY doesn't. I think we all
know that by now.
Outside a contest, for general work, GRITTY hasn't - YET - shown me
something that MMTTY hasn't decoded.

Interesting times, and one I will keep an eye on!
