Sure that happens, but I usually get a sense pretty quick that the timing is
off or that something is wrong.

And they may not even be working you. Sometimes there are two stations
on the same frequency that can not hear each other and they both think
they are working the calling station, or they are both calling the run
station. It can get confusing. That's why I don't like to see someone
send 599 001 001 without ANY calls.
