Yes Bob you right about the note pairs selection with ICOM.
But, let me work from memory. Not the 756PROIII nor the 7600 could enable
that dreaded TPF - dual audio filters on tone pair - out of the 2125 Hz
Mark option.
On different tones options, than the 2125 Mark, the ICOM TPF doesn't
engage, isn't?
This is not happening on the K3 and also there is one more option for the
same feature on the Elecraft side.
Anyway, as the K3 is another beast I do not use anymore often that feature.
It's quite not needed. Playing with DSP and MF filters payback a lot more
than engaging TPF. With both the two ICOM TPF engagement mechanism, the old
one on the 756PROIII and the worst on the ICOM 7xxx series.
Unluckily for me, the 7600 was enough bad when in FSK TX to give around me
more space when I was in RUN. (and to delivery hot cakes when in needs)
Now with K3s I have much more neighborhood willingly to QRM me, but not
affected by my more tight FSK TXed signal. Bad luck.

PS I simply would don't trust Variable Operations AFSK, nor having a more
complicated setup than with FSK and Microham: KIS.

Late model Icom radios, including the IC-7600 that I use, gives the user
the option of setting the RTTY FSK Mark Frequency to 1275, 1615, or 2125
Hz. The default is 2125 Hz. The downside of selecting either of the two
optional frequencies is that the internal RTTY decoder and the twin peak
filter only works when 2125 Hz is selected.
I don't care for the sound of 2125 Hz RTTY, so I typically use 1275 Hz
and let MMTTY or 2Tone decode the signals.
