Paul, I don't think selfish comes into it. I'm not sure that I know any other software developer in either the amateur or professional world who dedicates so much time to supporting & improving their programs on one platform let alone two! Supporting the Windows version has got to be the right decision from a development perspective, and I think its a great gesture that the final DOS version has been issued as freeware. Personally I will continue to use the DOS version for many of the reasons cited by other people, but will follow the continued development of the program with interest. So from me its a big vote of thanks to Paul for getting it this far - and good luck with the new windows development.
