Hi Jay,

I hope SECC and other clubs also consider those who don't have
a big station and do much of our DX contest operating as either a guest
op or part of a multi-op. The rating system they have seems to penalize
you if you are part of a multi-op. Also, I think most ACTIVE contesters
know who the good ops are anyway. For example my good friend , John
N2NC, doesn't even have a real station at home. He does lots of multis
in DX contests with N2NT and N2RM... and he does single ops
(from those stations using his call)in SS , Sprints or NAQP. Those of
us that are active contesters know he has the ability and many would
nominate someone like him in a second!!! I sent an email to OH1NOA to
have him consider domestic US contest scores in their formula for the
US teams and he thought it was a joke !!! I think he doesn't really
understand the US domestic contests and their popularity because he's
trying to compare our domestic contests with what they have in EU. What
he doesn't understand is there are lots of world class guys, especially
on the west coast, who don't do DX contests seriously because of the
disadvantage they face compared to the east coast. K6LL comes to mind
as one of those guys...

I acually had a chance to go to WRTC-2000 representing the Mad River
Radio Club because I was elected as our alternate. Neither KW8N (the
1st choice) or I could go that year so we ended up sending K9TM. I
think
Bill Fisher's idea of having a way to express your interest in going
by having the form on contesting.com is a great idea. I totally agree
that there needs to be a list so we all don't waste our time nominating
people that can't go. To tell you the truth I am very interested in
going this time a submitted my name today.

I really hate the way they are choosing teams this time but I guess
it's the CCF's call and they can do what they want. It is quite
possible
that those of us in the 8 and 9 call area could be shut out because
they grouped us in with the east coast 1,2,3 and 4's. I really feel
sorry for the W0's who probably have it worse than us by having to be
grouped with the 6 and 7's .

                                 73's Jeff
