That step won't work if you have auto start sending enabled.

I see that switches to the s&p mode exchange field, which is
tolerant of dupes. That is a good idea.

After playing with this some more, here's what I will try to
remember:
"To force a qso into the log, hit TAB TAB."

That gets you into S&P, with the cursor in the exchange window,
no callsign in the call window, and it looks so strange that
you wouldn't even consider depending on the automatic cw
messages, so it serves as a reminder to send everything by
hand or with the function key memories.

With my memory though, I'll be lucky to remember TAB TAB
until phone SS.
