I'm also using Goldwave, saving files in the format you described.
For those not familiar with Goldwave, a posting on this list in the last month
or so recommended it, and it's a dandy.

I'm using a PCI sound card with WIN98. Never could get it to record. But, no
problem recording in another application and then playing back with SBDVP
from TR.
