Jim, do you mean RF key clicks on the air or just an audible click
inside the rig? There will be audible clicking due to an internal
relay that is used for switching an external linear amplifier. Users
have devised various ways of disabling the relay to provide truly
silent QSK. On my Corsair and Paragon I just put in a little jumper
to ground the base of the transistor that drives the relay. Others
popped the cover off the relay and wedged a piece of cardboard over
the armature to keep the relay closed all the time. Too bad it isn't
in a socket! Anyway, with the linear amp relay silenced, the only
moving part will be the reed relay used for antenna T/R switching,
which you won't hear unless you really try.
So, if you key clicks are strictly acoustic, there is nothing wrong
the rig. I bet most users don't use linears, so maybe the relay
should be an option!
