This most certainly could be a factor. Many TT rigs use the same type of
bulb as our grandmother's 1942 Zenith while the other brands use pea lamps
which seem to last longer but are hard to change. As much as I like the
238 tuner, it takes a lot of light to iluminate the dial and I couldn't
understand why they didn't just make the pointer move visible so a bulb
wouldn't be needed at all. Some folks use series dropping resistors to
increase the bulb life at the expense of lumens.
