I believe I have solved the mystery of the orange/black dot.

First the documentation - On page 22 of the December 2001 issue of CQ
magazine there is a picture of the Ten-Tec manufacturing facilities. Close
inspection reveals the logo on the building has an ORANGE dot.

This would lead one to believe that orange dot Ten-Tec's are manufactured in
Sevierville. Orange dot rigs are the true all-American rigs.

Thus, the black dot rigs are likely manufactured elsewhere. Probably out of
the country. Those with black dot rigs might check inside to see if labels
on the circuit board are in Spanish, or even Canadian.

Or, black dot rigs may even be knock-offs, like a Rolodax version of a
Rolodex. If you bought you rig from a guy on a street corner wearing
sunglasses and a lot of rings, it's probably a knock-off.

Since my Omni V has an orange dot, I find this explanation of the dots to be
satisfying and complete. Doubters may exist, however....

P.S. - I am having trouble measuring the rise and fall times of my orange
dot. Rather than the 5 ms. suggested, it just seems to stay there all the
time. Advice would be appreciated.
