Well 50 watts is 3 dB down from 100 watts, but a -25 dB third order
intermod product is still 3 dB up from the third order intermod product
from a 100 watt radio doing -31 dB third order intermod. And a -35 dB
5th order from the Scout is 7 dB stronger in field strength than a -45
dB 5th order from a 100 watt transmitter. I don't think -25 third order
and -35 5th order is a clean signal. Its more like one from an over
driven sweep tube Swan of old.

Back off from the microphone to reduce bassiness. Most microphones have
a proximity effect that enhances bass. That's why singers try to swallow
their hand microphones.

The amplified D-104 will definitely tend to overdrive a ham rig. It was
made for CB where the radio makers intentionally kept the audio gain low
to prevent over modulation (and generally prevented adequate
modulation). The original crystal D-104 is so high impedance that when
coupled to a solid state radio it has very poor audio balance. It will
be even more unbalanced towards highs than what its design was.
