According to DL6WU and others, the driven element of a yagi only affects
SWR, not pattern, so the driven element can be off resonance and still
achieve the pattern, especially in a long yagi where it would seem that
the driven element would be most particular. Its not. The driven element
has virtually no effect on pattern or F/B and the long yagis of DL6WU
are very difficult to beat for performance.
