Undoubtedly, the lesser effect of an off tune driven element of the Yagi
comes about from the lower feedpoint impedance of the Yagi, hence likely
lower Q. Many Yagi designs without some transformation exhibit about 30
ohms center of driven element impedance with the usual tri element beam.
(One Reflector, one driven, one director).

The impedance curve at the feedpoint of the lower Q system, may rise more
slowly either side of resonance, allowing you to be off a bit in dimensions.
