Hi Rick,

Strange...we always used to refer to the European 190 ~ 550 kHz broadcast
band as "long-wave", and the 550 kHz ~ 1.7 MHz broadcast band as
"medium-wave". This would tend to characterise the 160m amateur band as
"medium-wave" or "MF".

300 Hz - 3kHz = 1000000 Meters - 100000 Meters = Ultra Long Wave = Ultra Low Frequency
3 kHz - 30 kHz = 100000 Meters - 10000 Meters = Very Long Wave = Very Low Frequency
30 kHz - 300 kHz = 10000 Meters - 1000 Meters = Long Wave = Low Frequency
300 kHz - 3 MHz = 1000 Meters - 100 Meters = Medium Wave = Medium Frequency
3 MHz - 30 MHz = 100 Meters -10 Meters = Short Wave = High Frequency
30 MHz -300 MHz = Very Short Wave = Very High Frequency
300 MHz - 3 GHz = Ultra Short Wave = Ultra High Frequency
3 GHz - 30 GHz = Microwave = Super High Frequency?

In radio astronomy we call frequencies around 300 GHz "millimeter wavelenths" and much above that "submillimeter wavelengths"
